The biggest T20 cricket bonanza kickstarts on 17th October in the UAE and Oman. Get ready to Watch ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 on YuppTV and join the thrill ride.

The tournament comprises 2 rounds, Round 1 and Super 12 Round. Round 1, also called the Qualifier round, will start from October 17 to October 22 and will witness 8 teams in two groups, Group A and Group B, competing in the Qualifiers to enter the Super 12 Round. The 2014 champion Sri Lanka failed to qualify for Super 12 through direct qualifications, hence will participate in Round 1. Sri Lanka is pooled in Group A of Round 1 alongside the Netherlands, Namibia and Ireland. If Sri Lanka manages to top the group, the Lankan team will join Super 12 Group 1 alongside England, South Africa, Australia, West Indies and second seed from Group B. If Sri Lanka remains runner-up(second seed), the team will join Super 12 Group 2 along with India, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the topper of Group B.

Sri Lanka looks a solid and experienced team in Group A and is likely to top the group and join the Super 12 Group 1. Although the team’s recent performance is not satisfactory, Sri Lanka is expected to bounce back and change their fortunes. The team has the advantage of playing against inexperienced teams, so it hopes to be back to winning ways in the qualifier round.

Led by Dasun Shanaka, the young Lankan team lacks experienced players in their squad, which might be a concern.

Here’s the Lanka squad for the mega event.

Dasun Shanaka (captain), Kusal Janith Perera, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya De Silva, Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Avishka Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Chamika Karunaratne, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kumara, Maheesh Theekshana, Akila Dananjaya, Binura Fernando.

Let’s check out the Sri Lanka schedule in the qualifier round.

18 October – Sri Lanka vs Namibia,  7:30 PM at Abu Dhabi

20 October, Sri Lanka vs Irelands 7:30 PM at Abu Dhabi

22 October, Sri Lanka vs Netherlands 7:30 PM, in Sharjah

Based on the team’s position in Round 1, Sri Lanka will join the Super 12 stage. Will Sri Lanka manage to grab their second trophy? Watch T20 World Cup live on YuppTV and enjoy watching your favourite players.
